SAM CALLEJO JOINS HEIDE & COOK MECHANICAL CONTRACTORS AS DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

 

Callejo brings a wealth of experience in both the public and private arenas, having worked on all Hawaiian Islands, in California, and in Vietnam.  As a Captain in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Callejo organized the design and construction of roads and airfields in Vietnam.

 

Sam holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Hawai`i at Manoa.

He is a Professional Licensed Engineer in the State of Hawai`i.

 

 

In the public arena, Sam has worked for the City and County of Honolulu as Deputy Managing Director and for the State of Hawai'i as Deputy Director of the Department of Transportation, the State Comptroller and the Chief-of-Staff in the office of the Governor (Most recently, he worked in the University of Hawai'i System as Director of the Office of Capital Improvements and Chief of Staff and Vice President for Administration).

 

Callejo has been involved in all aspects of engineering and construction work from design/build model homes to supervising operating budgets exceeding $200 million.  Most recently, Callejo was Chief of Staff and Vice President for Administration of the University of Hawai`i System, and prior to that Director of

the Office of Capital Improvements at the U.H. System.
